Timeline & Schedule

2020

  • Installation of the pedestrian bridge on the north side of the Main Street Bridge was completed at the end of May.
  • Work in May includes removal of fire hydrant at Centertown; removal of stone at the Centertown corner of the bridge; construction of temporary bridge foundation; and installation of pedestrian bridge.
  • Full closure of Main Street Bridge began April 27th.
  • Traffic lights are installed at intersection of Granite Street and Route 101, and Route 202 is widened in the vicinity of the bridge to prepare for full closure.
  • Signage is installed and partial closure, limiting bridge to pedestrian and one-way (west-bound) vehicle traffic, begins January 27th.
  • Additional required funds are approved by voters at Special Town Meeting on January 15th.
  • Superior Court Hearing for Special Town Meeting is successful.

2019

  • Select Board petitions Superior Court for approval to hold Special Town Meeting in order to raise additional needed funding.
  • NHDES Wetland Permit final approval given December 23rd.
  • Bid opening on October 30th – low bidder is Beck & Bellucci at $6.596 million, not including construction administration.
  • Pre-Bid Conference held October 8th.
  • Advertisement for bids published in September.
  • Final documents submitted for FHWA approval in August.
  • Plans, Specifications & Estimate (PSE) submittal to NHDOT on May 22nd.
  • NHDES Wetland Permit initial approval (contingent on ARM Fund payment) granted on April 26th.
  • Utility relocations begin in April.
  • NHDES Dam Reconstruction Permit issued on January 24th.
  • NHDOT comments on Preliminary Plans, Specifications & Estimate (PPSE) received in early January.

2018

  • Voters approve $6.6 million expenditure at 2018 Town Meeting
  • Development of Final Plans, Specifications and Estimate of Construction Cost.
  • Utility Coordination.
  • NHDES Coordination regarding mitigation for wetland impacts.
  • Easement appraisals and procurement.
  • Public outreach.

2017 

  • Input from Town & Project Stakeholders prompts reconsideration, and eventually elimination, of the separate free-standing pedestrian bridge as a permanent feature of the project.
  • NEPA Document revised to include reevaluation (and elimination) of the free-standing permanent pedestrian bridge and re-submitted for FHWA review.
  • Environmental Commitments Memo received.
  • Revised Cultural Resources Effect Memo issued with a finding of Adverse Effect on Historic or Archaeological properties.
  • Section 106 Amendment to Memorandum of Agreement Issued.
  • Approval to proceed to Final Design phase received.

2016 

  • Public Informational Meetings.
  • Cultural Resources Effect Memo issued with a finding of Adverse Effect on Historic or Archaeological properties.
  • Categorical Exclusion/Final Section 4(f) Evaluation (NEPA Document) submitted.
  • Section 106 Memorandum of Agreement Issued.

2015
